Colts 09s at Glens Summer League Finals Day

On Sunday 4th September the Colts 09s played in the finals day at the Oval Belfast of the Glentoran summer league.

In what had been a very successful league campaign over the summer months, winning 10 out of their 11 league games, the players were greatly looking forward to the finals day and getting the experience of walking out the tunnel and playing in a large stadium.

With Comber Rec the opposition in the semi-final, the boys started slowly finding themselves 1-0 down early on, but through continuous pressure they got an equaliser through Joseph and in the last minute of the game Sean scored the winner!

With Glentoran being the opponents in the final, again they took the lead early on and could have scored several more, bar some great defending from Tom and Kenzie and some superb saves from Daniel at the other end. Matthew went close to equalising a couple of times before Fintan got the equaliser taking the game to penalties.

Unfortunately the boys lost 2-1 in the shoot-out, however it was a great day out and an excellent runners-up achievement.
