Seconds secure great win

The seconds lined up against a strong and physical Groomsport team who after the corresponding fixture earlier in season thought they only had to turn up for the three points.
They came up against a Colts team who fought for every ball and backed each other all over the pitch.

From goalkeeper Stuart Mulligan, the back three of Sparky Hegney, Cathal McNally and Conor O’Toole to the midfield five, the two boys up front and the three subs when they came on, every man gave 110%.

Colts took an early lead when Aaron Waddell sprinted clear of the back four and finished well into the corner.

Shortly after he done the same, getting away on the right before sliding the ball across for Matty McSorley to finish well.

Groomsport pulled one back and it was 2-1 at half time.

The second half started slowly for us and Groomsport started to get a foothold which saw them earn a soft penalty leaving the score at  2-2 with 15 min left.

Conor Magee and Jonny Henry started to control in the last 3rd supported by Jonny Wilson and Eoin McDonnell in the midfield and the great defensive work of the back four.

Two break aways by Waddell and two goals finished the game. The first a great finish the second saved by the keeper before Eoin McDonnell bundled over the line with his face!

Couldn’t have asked for anymore from the 14 boys today.
