Firsts lose out to Beann Mhadaghain
Carryduff Colts 1 – 4 Beann Mhadaghain
On a beautiful day for football The Colts went toe to toe with the league leaders and possibly the eventual Winners of 2C.
A young vibrant squad due to many recognised first team players not available stood up to the quality that Beann Mhadaghain possesses.
Young Jack Rafferty started slowly but grew into the game as the minutes ticked by and for his stature was not afraid to put some hefty challenges in to win the ball back for his team.
Both he and Simon Turkington were making their first team debuts and Big Simon was a rock at the back alongside the skipper Rory McDonnell up against a very lively forward line of Beann Mhadaghain.
The Colts took the lead when McNally and Sherry combined up front and Sherry curled the ball around the fullback and past the keeper 1-0 the home team and richly deserved after their hard work at containing the league leaders.
After the break however The Colts started to tire in the sunshine and after the work rate put in in the first 45 it was hardly surprising.
Two early goals after the break by Beann Mhadaghain knocked the stuffing out of The Colts and they took control of the game and scored two more without reply.
Young Josh Hyland came on for Jack Crompton and also showed his quality with a great strike only for the keeper to save low to his left.
All in all The Colts fought as hard as they could but to no avail.
Congratulations to the 2nds who had a wonderful win against Tullymore at home winning 4-2 and hopefully will make it three in a row on Thursday night against Beann Mhadaghain IIs at Loughmoss 6-15 kickoff.
Come along and support the lads if you can.
