Carryduff 08’s played a thoroughly entertaining game of football against an exceptionally strong Hillsborough Boys team who competed most of last season in the 2007 age group given their ability!
Luke S, Danny, Ben, Ciaran, Jack, Owen, Liam and Rhys displayed a new level of determination and resilience on Saturday after conceding a few quick goals in the first period. Despite this, the boys fought hard and came out in the second period and played fantastic football, scoring 3 goals without reply, hitting the post twice and forcing the Hillsborough Boys keeper into some great saves.
The third period was neck and neck all the way and big teams played a great game of football.
The intensity, tackling, energy and all round play from Owen and Jack in the midfield was fantastic – both boys were all over the pitch – defending, driving forward in attack, passing, always looking for the ball and their teammates.
Liam and Rhys both worked hard up front against a very good Hillsborough boys defence. In the second period, Liam got 2 great goals to kick off the come back!
Danny, Ben and Ciaran worked tirelessly in defence against probably the best attackers we have played against at this age group. Some of the passing and movement and skill from Hillsborough was fantastic but the boys matched them all the way with some fantastic defending!
Luke S was the main man in nets in the second and third period! He made some great saves and between Luke S and our boys in defence, we held Hillsborough Boys to only 1 goal in the second and third period.
Overall, it was a great game of football against a team that has always been the benchmark in the 2008 league.
It really demonstrated how far the Carryduff 08’s have developed
Super proud of the boys !!!
