The 2008 Colts team started their 7-a-side small sided games season today and had a fantastic win against a Crumlin team at Hydebank.
Cal, Oisin and Luke M all shared goalkeeping duties throughout the three periods and always tried to pick free players and play the ball out from the back.
Oisin I played in midfield for much of the second and third periods and showed some great ball winning skills, turns and passes to his team-mates. Noah and Luke started the game in their strongest defensive positions, but moved up front in the final period. Both showed their accuracy in front of goal with some fantastic shots. Noah, who is strongest on his left foot, even scored two goals with his right foot!
Rafe started up front and showed how versatile he is in all positions, his timing was always excellent with some great tackles and interceptions.
Oisin L was the heart of midfield today, always eager to receive the ball, beat an opposition player and look up for the best pass he can make. In the dying minutes he rattled the crossbar and post and was very unlucky not to score.
Both Lewis and Eoin showed some strong tackling skills, often intercepting the ball from the opposing team and looking for team mates, showing some great decision making.
Cal played on the right wing for most of the match and went on some magnificent runs, whipping in some great crosses and never stopping, running from box to box.
Wiktor started the game up front and got his hat-trick early on, before showing how versatile he is playing in the heart of the defence in the last period.
Thanks to Crumlin for a very sporting game and well done to a team who came right back into the match as the game progressed.
