A strange game in which i aged ten years we had started the day needing a draw to finish second the year after winning the first division and getting promoted.
We gave Bloomfield a 2- 0 head start before waking up and making a game of it.
Declan Magee pulled a goal back after a fantastic through ball from Jamie Wilkinson Declan beat the defender to the ball rounded the keeper and finished calmly.
The second goal to get us back on level terms was scored again by Declan Magee who collected the ball on the edge of the box he beat two defenders and from a tight angle he managed to squeeze the ball in at the near post.
However Bloomfield then took the lead again, after a bad clearance from Ewan Wilson in goals left the Bloomfield striker with an open goal from 30 yards he greatfully accepted the gift and slotted home.
We then equalised with a super goal started in midfield with a flick from Joseph Tunney to put Eamon Swail away down the right he beat his man before picking out Joe Tolan with his cross Joe Tolan hit the ball first time on the volley giving the keeper no chance.
Odhran Sherry then had an effort from 25 yards on the half volley hitting the bar with the keeper well beaten.
Our fourth goal was a screamer from Declan Magee to complete his hatrick Declan picked the ball up on the left cut inside beating his man before whipping the ball back in to the corner from 30 yards giving the keeper no chance.
Bloomfield kept coming back at us and again equalised for 4 – 4.
Carryduff then scored through man of the match Joseph Tunney with another fine goal Joseph beat his man on the edge of the box before smashing the ball home for 5 – 4.
Bloomfield then came back at us again and equalised for 5 – 5 and made the last five minutes a nervous affair but the boys hung on and got the point they needed to take second place outright.
This was a super game which had everything and was a fitting way to end the season some of the football was a joy to watch and theres no point making anything easy for ourselves wheres the fun in that.
A huge well done to the boys finishing second in your first season in the premier league however we look to improve and kick on again next year.
A huge thank you from Mark Keating and i for all the hard work from the boys and all the support from the parents.
