Comber too strong for Carryduff
Carryduff got off to a slow start against a strong Comber side who had just dropped out of Division 1. The game was 10 mins old when Carryduff cleared a corner only for the Comber centre back to strike a hopeful shot which sailed into the top corner. This was followed shortly by a second Comber goal who by this stage were well on top. Carryduff staged a fight back and after a spell of good possession and managed to pull a goal back when Rory Thompson struck a shot into the corner of the net. This was followed by more Carryduff pressure with Eoin Haigney and Leo McMahon playing very well. Against the run of play Comber scored a third goal just before the break Score at half time 3 – 1 to Comber. The second half started more brightly for the Colts with Nye Henrik proving tricky on the wing. The Colts management made some changes to chase the game with Luke Taylor moving up front and Eoin McGleenon coming on at sweeper. The second half was a more evenly fought match but the fast Comber forwards were still proving a handful for the Carryduff defence. The second half was well under way when the Comber centre forward was brought down and scored from the penalty. The remaining 15 minutes were well contested but still Carryduff relied on Sean McCaffrey producing some fine saves to keep Carryduff in the game. In the last minute of the game the Comber centre forward broke clear again and was brought down in the box. The penalty was scored and the game finished 5 -1 to Comber.
