After a week out the lads returned to Premier League action at The Grove in glorious sunshine.
The lads kept to their high tempo passing game and made a few early chances with Caolan Cunningham coming the closest when he broke into the box and see n his side footed shot hit the side netting. The lads showed great pressure and following a few corners the ball broke to Peter Duncan who did his usual pop-up in the box to make it 1:0. The lads kept the ball well and made it two following a great run down the right wing and pull back from Jack Millar straight to Michael Lawson who coolly slotted the ball into the net. 2:0 at half time.
The 2nd half started slowly for the lads, and again came close with a few chances, and with the return of Donal Healy following a serious illness he broke down the right wing and found Caolan Cunningham on the edge of the box who turned and shot all in one movement on his left foot to make it 3:0.
The lads were well in control when Eoin Maguire played a clever clearance towards Ryan Tweedy, the Plunkett keeper came outside his box and unfortunately mistimed his clearance, and following a few challenges Ryan took control and curled the ball into the net from 35 yards!! 4:0.
Caolan Cunningham was causing havoc again and following some one touch passes with Donal he broke into the box and slotted the ball under the advancing keeper, 5:0.
The lads kept pressing and it should have been 6 when Tommy Connery had a magnificent effort really well tipped over the bar by the Plunkett keeper, what a save.
In the final moments Plunkett were awarded a very soft penalty when Jonny Wilson made a last minute challenge in the box and win the ball, but justice was done when the penalty was blasted over the bar.
Final score 5:0 to the young Colts which keeps up their 100% record so far this season, with Man Of The Match going to Caolan Cunningham.
