Firstly I would like to say its great to see so many of the squad from last year,we lost two boys Rhys Worthington who went to play at his own age group with Ridgeway and Matthew Winchester who went to Rosario looking for more regular starts i think i speak for all at the 2002 age group in wishing the two boys all the best and hope all goes well.
I would like to welcome Marc McCann, Christopher Blaney and Davey Rogers to Carryduff Colts and already the boys are showing we have added great quality to the squad.
A fast start today Rory Timoney scored after a minute with a great finish from a tight angle when he lobbed the keeper after a super through ball from Marc McCann, Odhran Sherry then added a second after receiving a pass from Joseph Tunney he ran onto the pass and slotted calmly into the corner.
Rory Timoney then got his second after a great run between the centre backs he found the inside of the net shooting across the keeper.
Odhran Sherry then got his second after great work down the left from Harry Graham who beat his man and pulled the ball back for Matthew O ‘Rourke who picked out Odhran to smash home for 4-0.
We were playing some great stuff but Killyleagh were decent up front and Chris Blaney and Aidan Martin who look to have the making of a great partnership at the back had the forwards under control and limited them to half chances.
Down the wings Eamon Swail and Harry Graham were linking up well with Matthew and Odhran creting chances every time we went forward.
Just on Half time Rory Timoney completed his hatrick again with a super finish to make the score 5 – 0.
We made some changes at half time on came Davey Rogers and Joe Tolan for Odhran and Matty and the intensity never dropped both boys were attacking with pace down the flanks Joe was unlucky with a good effort just shooting narrowly wide.
Again we made more changes bringing on Jude Lynam, Gary Topping, and Niall Tunney, Jude was unlucky after a jinking run down the right beating two men before being dispossesed as he was about to shoot, Gary was straight into the action after Marc McCann again supplied a lovely weighted through ball Gary ran onto it and slotted home for 6- 0.
Ewan Wilson in goals then came out at the feet of the striker to deny any oppourtunities to the Killyleagh forwards, Joe Tunney then hit the post from a free kick after a surging run from Marc who exchanged passes with Niall Tunney and powered goal wards before he was brought down 30 yards from goal.
Jamie Wilkinson who had a super game in the centre of midfield wrapped up the scoring driving at the heart of the Killyleagh defence beating two men and smashed home for 7 – 0 and a good start.
Lets build on this result lads and great to see us taking the chances our football deserved.
